Birth experience Jet

I first read about the hypnobirthing course in a magazine. When I read the article, I found it so interesting and it appealed to me so much that I started looking where I could. A painless delivery. A birth for our child where she would experience as little stress as possible. And something your partner could actually be involved in! We had made this child together and so we could really get it together.
I already had complete confidence in my body. I was not afraid to give birth. In fact, I was looking forward to it so much! I just could! My body was made to give birth to a child. We women have the privilege to be able and able to do this! During the course this was only confirmed and I felt even more strengthened in my feeling. My husband attended every course meeting and neatly participated in the exercises. We were both amazed at the effects of the exercises. Yes, we could move into a deeper state of concentration and trust that this would strengthen us during labor. During the course we also received a lot of information about the pregnancy and the delivery itself. Things that we had not thought of ourselves came up and we could use these nicely to keep the most important day in our life, that of the birth of our first child, on the right track. Just think about the birth plan. It contained so many things that we hadn't even thought of ourselves! For example, beating the umbilical cord before cutting it. We also used the plan that was in the brochure with a few minor adjustments. Our midwives were open to our plan and would support us in this.
It was an educational course in which we can also use a few things in our daily life. This way I can relax more easily during stressful moments.
Esther, the course leader, brought up topics that we did not consider ourselves, and came up with many good tips. Very nice!
During my pregnancy I felt great! I could take on the whole world. How I liked to be pregnant. I was beaming. I had almost no ailments. Only sleeping became a bit difficult at the end. Almost every night I watched the minutes crawl by. But I knew what I was doing it for. And it must have been a preparation for the sleepless nights when our baby was born.
N.a.v. during the course we had made a plan that was very similar to the example of Hypnobirthing. I discussed this with the midwives and they were very open to this.
Basically they agreed with everything except my request not to give a syringe to help the placenta be born faster. This because of risk of bleeding. It was decided in consultation that they would decide after birth whether a syringe would be put. Most likely it would. I had no problem with this, as I understood the motives. It would be a special birth for the midwives. They had never experienced hypnobirthing before. I sometimes wondered whether I could meet all “expectations” and at one point I also indicated that. I decided that my approach was to apply the knowledge, attitude and skills from the course, but if my body would indicate otherwise, I would follow it. Actually, this is of course also what the course indicates; your body is built on it and will tell you what to do.
Our child stayed in place for a long time, because they would introduce me at 41 weeks and 4 days. Because I did not want that, I devoured myself at pineapple cores, walked for miles, walked stairs, ate spicy and massaged until I fell down. I also went to a foot reflexology therapist. This had an effect, but unfortunately those contractions subsided. I immediately made a new appointment for the day before the introduction.
It was really going to happen on that day.
On the day our Jet was to be born, I woke up at 02:00. Nothing special during the last 2 months though. That's how it went almost every night. Only at 3:07 am I felt a contraction. I immediately started timing. They immediately came on a regular basis: 11 minutes each time. I then sat downstairs because if it wasn't my husband might wake me up while he had to work. At 6:00 am I went back to bed, because this was it I had already decided. The alarm went off at 6:45 am, my husband had to go to work. I told him it was going to start and he should just go to work because you didn't know how long it would take. I would call him if he had to come. Around 9 am I called the midwife with the news that it might start. They would come at 2:00 pm to see how I was doing. I also had an appointment with the foot reflexology therapist. She also wanted to come home to give me the last push. That worked great!
